Sushi and spaetzle – how’s that for a combination?
An outstanding one, in our opinion. That’s why we’re proud to be able to distribute the products of WAIDA MFG.CO., LTD, Japan’s leading manufacturer of periphery grinding machines, since January 1, 2012. WAIDA, a medium-sized family business headquartered in Takayama in the Gifu prefecture, will return the favor by distributing our Multigrind® grinding machines in Japan and other Asian countries.
No. 1 in Japan
130 employees develop and manufacture this long-established company’s periphery grinding machines, CNC jig grinders and CNC profile grinding machines. Similar to HAAS, WAIDA attaches great importance to personal service and – needless to say – to precision in the micrometer range. WAIDA’s grinding machines are used by all large Japanese carbide tool manufacturers.
Even more complete machining
Now that we have access to WAIDA machines, we are in a position to meet all the demands of indexable insert manufacturers – everything from large-scale production to the machining of carbide indexable inserts with highly complex geometries on a small-scale basis. This means that our complete machining is now even more complete.
Two languages, one driving force
Now you’re probably wondering how well we speak Japanese here in Trossingen? Well, to be honest, there’s loads of room for improvement. But despite all the language barriers and cultural differences (that offer enrichment potential as well!), there are a couple of things that unite mechanical engineering companies the world over – a passion for technology and that inherent spirit of invention that drives us to ever greater heights.
150 years of Japanese-German friendship
Did you know that last year, 2011, was the 150th anniversary of the beginning of Japanese-German friendship? What a pleasant coincidence that our cooperation with WAIDA came into being exactly 150 years after the signing of the first friendship and trade agreement between Japan and what was at that time Prussia on January 24, 1861. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the Japanese Embassy in Germany set up a highly informative website.
Germany marked the end of the anniversary year by holding a Taiko concert – featuring the “Kamotsuna-Mura Taiko” ensemble from the Miyagi prefecture – in Berlin on November 30, 2011. Taiko Music – drums and dance – plays a huge role in Japanese culture.

日独関係150
年
昨年、つまり2011年が日独友好150周年記念だったことをご存知ですか？ 日本とかつてのドイツの支邦プロイセンとの間で1861年1月24日に修好通商条約が結ばれてから、ちょうど150年後に我々が和井田社との提携をスタートさせたことは、けして単なる偶然によって起こったことではありません。 この記念の年をきっかけとして在ドイツ日本国大使館が 情報提供のためのインターネットサイトを開設しました。
ドイツにおける記念の年のエンディングとして、2011年11月30日に、宮城県から来た「加茂綱村太鼓」団による太鼓コンサートがベルリンで開催されました。 太鼓楽 – 太鼓と舞踊 – は、日本文化の中で大きな役割を占めています。
