Voyager 1 reaches final frontier
25. Juni 2012
Voyager 1, launched in 1977, has reached the final frontier.
A sharp increase in cosmic rays indicates that Voyager 1 is leaving the heliosphere. The heliosphere is that gigantic magnetic bubble that surrounds our sun and the planets. NASA says that Voyager 1, which flys a few billion kilometers in front of Voyager 2, is still in good shape and ready for interstelllar space. Voyager 1 is now about 18 billion kilometers from Earth. A bit far away for quick phone call home.
Keep going Voyager!
